firstly, to honour his pledges towards other people and, secondly, to fulfil important obligations to God, the Creator and Lord. Those who learn a lesson from nature, the great teacher, who activate their

their duties towards all, ranging from their parents right up to God, are the ones who will be treated as deserving of the eternal grace of God in the Hereafter. Everyone’s home is his first training ground

he will be able to fulfil not only the rights and obligations of God’s servants but also on a vaster scale, the obligations he owes to God as well.

The good things of this world for a man are his achieving realization of God, having the ability to understand the correct meaning of religion, unconditionally making the Prophet his guide and wholeheartedly

accepting the ideal religious example set by the lives of the Companions. Other good things are that God will save him from all kinds of intellectual evils, he will not misinterpret religion, being graced

nor will he do anything wrong in the name of religion. The good things in the Hereafter will be that God will give us a share in the rewards of the Hereafter. In the Hereafter, a world is going to be built

Discovery of One’s IgnoranceThe journey of realization of God begins with ‘la ilaha’ (there is no god) and then it finishes with ‘illallah’ (but God). The individual must first of all become a seeker and

intellectual learning. It is a natural reality to which there is no exception. Maarifah or the discovery of God is not something to be inherited that a father may give to a son and the grandson may receive from

his forebears. Maarifah is ultimately something of a personal nature. Whenever anyone attains to God’s realization, it will happen only as a result of personal effort. Without personal effort, no one can
